Because of the difficulty getting appointments to get our rescue cats altered in a timely manner, we recently launched our pre-spay/neuter adoption program. The cat you are interested in may be part of this program and will have at least it’s first FVRCP vaccine, a microchip registered to us and will have been treated for internal and external parasites. CCI SamSam, male polydactyl, 6 yrs old Meet SamSam! Sammy as he is now known by his foster family had been adopted before but never settled in at his last home and came back to us seemingly traumatized, couldn’t even be touched for several months and thought never to be adoptable again. But one day he just decided he wanted pets and became the sweetest boy. He gets along great with other cats and having other cats in the house actually helped him come around. Even after let ting his foster mom touch him he was pretty skittish. Often he’d run away, not sure of her intentions. But if she pet another cat, he’d realize what she was really trying to do and would come running back to get his own pets. His favorite spot to be scratched is under his chin. He’s a Hemingway, with several extra toes on every foot. we think he has 6 toes per foot, but he doesn’t like her to touch them. He’s so great with other cats that I think whoever adopts him should already have at least one. He doesn’t fight at all for dominance over the other kitties. Just wants to be friends. He may take some time to warm up and for that reason we don’t think he should be in a home with children or dogs. Sammy will need a special someone who can give him all the time he needs to adjust and have patience and understanding to help him be the best buddy he can be. All of our kitties are fully vetted (age-appropriate vaccines, spayed, tested for feline leukemia and feline aids, and they are microchipped.) They live in private foster homes with their foster families. Our adoption fees are $75 - $120. In order to match the best home for our foster kitties, we ask folks to complete our adoption application in advance; simply go to www.candyscats.org/forms. You will need to register on our site, and then fill out an Adoption Application. We'll review your information and get back in touch with you. Cats are not adopted first-come, first-served, but rather the best home for the kitty, but we do give consideration to the folks who take the time to fill out the application in advance. Almost all of our volunteers work during the week; to be able to meet one of our cats by appointment during non-adoption days (Saturday, 11 - 4, Sunday 12 - 4), your application needs to be filled out in advance and approved by our adoption coordinator prior to scheduling an appointment to meet with the cats.
